Fontainebleau to Open in December After Clearing Final Regulatory Hurdle TheStripLV, November 17, 2023 [ad_1] Fontainebleau Las Vegas, a $3.7 billion resort, is preparing to open in a little over three weeks after receiving approval from state gaming regulators. The resort, which has been 16 years in the making, is set to debut on December 13, and will feature a private black-tie reception followed by New Year’s Eve weekend festivities headlined by Grammy Award-nominated singer Post Malone. The property’s journey has been a long and tumultuous one, with construction beginning in 2007 but being mothballed after facing numerous financial issues. The building was 70% complete when funding was lost in June 2009, leading to a decade of uncertainty and changing ownership. In 2021, the original developer of the resort, Jeffrey Soffer, reacquired the property with plans to complete the unfinished building in partnership with Koch Real Estate Investments. Now, after four appearances in front of state gaming regulators and obtaining necessary approvals, Fontainebleau Las Vegas is finally set to open its doors. The resort is expected to employ 7,100 workers, with 6,500 people in place by the opening date. Fontainebleau’s operators have also reached an agreement with Culinary Workers Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165, allowing the property’s non-gaming workforce to decide whether they want union representation without interference from the business. The property will feature a 150,000-square-foot casino with 1,300 slot machines and 128 table games, along with spaces for 36 restaurants. Additionally, Red Rock Resorts has been licensed to provide the technology platform, oddsmaking services, and risk management to operate Fontainebleau’s 14,000-square-foot race and sportsbook. The resort will also have a poolside gaming area. Fontainebleau’s hotel tower contains 3,644 rooms and suites, with the property solely operating the hotel without partnering with other hotel companies. Situated on 25 acres, the resort is making use of every available square foot of land, including a 6.5-acre outdoor pool deck with seven pool areas and an outdoor terrace for special events. The property also features a 550,000-square-foot conference center located three levels above the hotel-casino’s parking garage. Fontainebleau officials hope to eventually build a connection linking the property to the West Hall of the neighboring Las Vegas Convention Center. Overall, the opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas marks a significant development in the long and winding journey of this $3.7 billion resort. With its extensive amenities, including a casino, restaurants, poolside areas, and conference facilities, the property is expected to make a splash in the market and bolster business prospects on the north end of the Strip.
